Gathering on Bloomfield Green
Sunday 3rd June 1:30 (official opening at 2:00) – 5:30pm. Music, games for all ages, refreshments, raffle, lots to do! Bring a picnic – the sun “promises” to shine!
Mikron Theatre on Bloomfield Road allotments on Saturday 28th July with a show about the NHS called “Get Well Soon”.
Picnickers welcome from 12 noon, when the refreshments stall will be open. The show starts at 1pm. No tickets or pre-booking required, just bring a chair/rug and make a donation after the show. Download the poster here.

CAROLS BY TORCHLIGHT IN ALEXANDRA PARK – Friday, 15th December 2017 at 6.30pm.
We’ll be at the Park gates handing our carol sheets from 6pm. Remember to bring a torch, for safety as there’s no lighting in the Park and to read your carol sheets! The Bowls Club will also be open from 6pm, serving hot seasonal drinks. Bear Flat’s own B Flat Barbers will lead the singing, and Beechen Cliff School choir will be singing two solos. There’ll be a collection in aid of Medecins sans Frontieres.
BFA Christmas Wine Evening – 7th December 2017, 7pm
Join Great Western Wine for an evening of Christmas wine tasting on Thursday 7th December. From 7pm until 9pm – the BFA will have exclusive use of the award-winning Great Western Wine shop. Have a glass of fizz while you peruse the shelves, help yourself to a mince pie and don’t forget to try a Marmalade Vodka Hot Toddy to really get you in the festive mood. Don’t forget your BFA membership card for a 10% discount !
BEAR FLAT CHRISTMAS MARKET – 2nd December, 10am-4pm
Annual Christmas market held jointly with Bear Flat Artists. The Methodist Hall will be full of stalls selling original and interesting art and craft, ideal as presents. There’ll also be local food on sale, café serving coffee, lunch and tea, and Christmassy craft activities for (accompanied) children. More details on the poster: pdf, jpeg.
Bear Flat’s annual quiz night – Friday 10th November
The quiz is at St Luke’s church hall on Friday 1oth November, starting at 7.30pm. It costs £2 per person or £10 for a team of 6 (maximum team size) to enter and all profits will go to Children in Need Day. (The event raised £200 for Children in Need.)
Rubbish and recycling – get expert advice, Friday 29th September
Come along to the Methodist Church Hall, Bruton Avenue, at 7.30pm on 29th September to receive expert advice on reducing your rubbish and recycling more, from local industry expert, Nick Francis, and a B&NES Neighbourhood Services, Officer, Lorinda Trebacyzk. Nick invites you to bring along your “difficult to recycle” items, to see if he can help you.
Ceilidh, 6th October
Following the great success in 2016, the Bear Flat Association will be holding its next Ceilidh onÂ Â 6th October 2017 at St Luke’s Hall. Â The George Buchanan band will return for a repeat of their barn-storming performance.

Allotment theatre – “In At The Deep End” with Mikron Theatre – Saturday 22nd July, 1pm
Mikron Theatre return to Bloomfield Road allotments for the sixth year running, with yet another hilarious show involving quick costume changes, plenty of songs and an underlying message. This year it’s about the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the wonderful service they provide. With marvellous maritime music and fathoms of fun, join Mikron as they dive into two hundred years of saving lives at sea!
Skipwick RNLI is all at sea. Crew members are hard to come by and Coxswain Darren’s management style isn’t helping. So when seventeen year old Shannon volunteers, it’s all hands on deck – particularly for Darren’s teenage son, Billy.
Can the station survive in this ‘me first’ age? Will eccentric fundraiser Hazel’s ideas ever turn a profit? And can Darren and Billy chart the choppy emotional waters closer to home?
Gates “open” at 12 noon for picnics. Bring a rug/chair, no tickets required – the cast do a collection after the show. Lashings of tea and cakes available.
Secret Gardens of the Bear Flat – Sunday 18th June, 11am – 3pm
Follow the first ever trail around the Secret Gardens of the Bear Flat on Sunday 18th June from 11am to 3pm. Explore some of the pretty and inventive gardens in the neighbourhood. People have generously opened up their gardens to the public so what better way to spend a Sunday? Follow the map and visit each of the gardens on the route and gain inspiration for your own garden.

5th June – Gathering on the Green
(Bloomfield Green) – 1.30 – 4.30pm
Celebrating its new name, Bloomfield Green is holding a “fete”, the Gathering on the Green, on Sunday 5th June, 1.30 – 4.30pm. There’ll be a silver band, sports and games, stalls, teas, plants, etc. Come and join in!
Saturday 30th July, 1pm – Mikron Theatre company return to Bloomfield Road allotments with their new show, PURE, about chocolate and ‘big business’. We’re not a million miles away from Keynsham …. It’ll be a great show with plenty of jokes, songs, quick character changes and a serious message about Fair Trade. Gates open from 12 noon for picnics. Tea and cakes available.

Saturday 14th May – Pot-Luck Picnic under the apple trees
We had a bring-and-share picnic at Bloomfield Community Orchard (in the middle of Bloomfield Road allotments) on Saturday 14th May 2016, with singing by Walcot State Choir. It was a fabulous evening! This photo gives a flavour …
Come and buy original works by the Bear Flat Artists, delicious seasonal goodies made by our local artisan makers and bakers, as well as our regular fresh local produce. We’ll be running a café all day, so come and have coffee, lunch and/or tea! There’ll also be a drop-in workshop for children to make Christmas decorations.

CAROLS BY TORCHLIGHT – Friday 11th December
Come along and sing carols in Alexandra Park, by the viewpoint overlooking the city’s twinkling lights. Carol sheets provided, bring your own torches! Singing led by experienced musicians and augmented by Beechen Cliff School choir. Well-known carols with special one for younger members, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The Bowls Club will be open for seasonal drinks from 6.00-6.30pm, and again for half-an-hour after the carols finish.
QUIZ NIGHT – Friday 13th November 2015

LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTION HUSTINGS
We’re holding hustings for Lyncombe Ward elections on Friday 10th April at 7.30 pm in the Methodist church hall, Bruton Avenue. We have already invited candidates from the five major parties (Cons, Greens, Lab, Lib Dem, UKIP). The list of candidates will not be confirmed until nominations close on 9th April (date advised by the Electoral office, B&NES).

No parking in the Park after 5pm, except for Blue Badge holders (park in Beechen Cliff School carpark if necessary).

Bloomfield Community Orchard picnic, 20th July 2014
Bloomfield allotments Community Orchard invite you to their annual Big Orchard Summer Shared Picnic, Sunday 2oth July, noon till 2:30.
Meet old friends and make new friends. Bring lots of sunshine, and food and drink to share.
“We will be having a collection for the fruit trees, newts, frogs, dragonflies, ducks, primroses, butterflies, and birds, so they can enjoy our company for another year.”

Gates ‘open’ from 1pm, so bring a picnic and a rug/chairs and wait for the show to begin at 3pm.
Harvey Granelli followed his mother into local government but then he decides to follow his dreams and emulate his father, an ice-cream maker. But will he be able to get the right flavours …
The Mikron cast are multi-talented, and take their shows round the country by narrow boat where possible, playing in allotments, pub gardens, community spaces.

Carols by Candlelight in the Park – 13th December
Come along to Alexandra Park on Friday, 13th December, at 6.30 pm, to sing carols by candlelight. We’ll be singing unaccompanied but under the guidance of an experienced choirmaster. The tunes will be familiar but we’ll be handing out carol sheets with the words!
We’ll be standing by the viewpoint, looking out over the city.
Please bring your own candles/torches.
The event is being put on with the support of Alexandra Park Forum and the Bowls Club.

Dancing for everyone at St. Luke’s – Come and dance to local band, Agent Philby and the Funtans, a good time party-rockband, covering everything from dancey crowd-pleasers to rocknroll classics and the odd bit of ‘leftfield nonsense’ (TomWaits etc).

The new community shop/cafe project, Hayes Place, had its first fund-raising event at Beechen Cliff Methodist Church Hall, 3 – 5pm. There were lots of homemade cakes and games, keeping all ages happily absorbed.
